Justin Gaethje, former BMF belt holder, has said that he would have come out to fight Islam Makhachev in June if he had secured a quick knockout in his fight with Max Holloway.
"I think a lot of people in my shoes wouldn't have decided to take the fight with Holloway, but I don't regret anything. I had so much fun. It was a huge, historic card for the UFC, and to be a part of it, to be a part of the best fight ever, it will stay forever. It was a big risk. I failed, but if I had won that fight, won by a quick knockout, I would have taken that fight against Makhachev. But that's the way the game is."
Recall, on April 14 at the UFC 300 anniversary event, Gaethje lost to Holloway by knockout at the last second of the fight.
