Eddie Hearn, Matchroom chairman, openly admitted that the rematch offer for Katie Taylor against Amanda Serrano was too significant to decline. Scheduled for July 20 in Arlington, Texas, this boxing event stands as a chief feature under the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight and will be broadcast on Netflix by MVP Promotions.

During an interview with Boxing Social, Hearn expressed his gratitude towards the negotiation teams. He specifically thanked Shaun Palmer and Nakisa Bidarian for their competent negotiation skills and acknowledged the efforts of MVP and Brian Peters. Although not involved in the promotion, he assured full support for Katie Taylor in the upcoming fight.

Hearn provided insights into future plans beyond the Serrano rematch, targeting potential big fights for Taylor with contenders like Alycia Baumgardner and Chantelle Cameron. He highlighted the importance of these matches in continuing Taylor’s career at high stakes levels. Hearn revealed his vision post-Serrano match during his discussion on future engagements.

Regarding the significance of the Serrano-Taylor rematch, Hearn said,

Financially, this was a big opportunity. We like the fight. She wants to be in the biggest fights out there. Simple as that.

This statement underlines both commercial and competitive aspects benefiting Taylor’s career.

Katie Taylor currently holds a record of 23-1 with six knockouts and is recognized as an undisputed junior welterweight champion under Brian Peters' management.
