Stevenson annihilates Fonfara

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (29-1, 24 KO) demolished Andrzej Fonfara (29-5, 17 KO) in two rounds on Saturday night at the Bell Center in Montreal. Stevenson dropped Fonfara in round one and then almost finished him. It was only a matter of time. After more punishment in round two, Fonfara’s trainer Virgil Hunter got on the ring apron prompting a stoppage. Time was :28.

Unbeaten 175-lb contender Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KO) won a hard-fought twelve round majority decision over former champion Jean Pascal (31-5-1, 18 KO). Scores were 114-114, 117-111, 116-112. Mandatory challenger Alvarez took step-aside money to allow Stevenson-Fonfara to happen. He remains in line for a shot at the Stevenson-Fonfara winner.
