According to a Filipino in Instagram, the match may take place in 2018. "Happy Thanksgiving! Stay fit my friend. Real boxing match in 2018," wrote Pacquiao on his Instagram page.

WBO cruiserweight champion Alexander Usyk (13-0, 11 KOs) believes that the organizers will not want to stage his semifinal fight of the World Super Series of Boxing against Mairis Breedis (23-0, 18 KOs) in Ukraine. "I think the fight will be somewhere in Europe in January. In Ukraine, I think, it will not happen, because the organizers will not earn much money they earn in Germany or Riga. We do not have room for so many people to pay that they want to receive. But I do not care where to box," Usyk said.
