April 25, 2024, 11:21 a.m.

Alex Perez, an American UFC fighter, explained why lightweight prospect Muhammad Mokaev has yet to get a chance to fight for the championship belt. According to Perez, it's all about Mokaev not looking too convincing in his recent fights.

"If you look at the resume, Mokaev has had tougher opponents than Erceg. He's been in the UFC longer and fought against Tim Elliott and beat me. But in our sport, it's your form in your last fight that decides everything. Steve Erceg looked great in his last fights," MMA Junkie quotes Perez as saying.

Recall that the next opponent of the current UFC lightweight champion Alesandre Pantoja will be Steve Erceg.

Josh Thomson, former UFC fighter, reacted to the verbal altercation between Arman Tsarukian and Michael Chandler.

"Arman gave one of the most brilliant responses I've ever heard from an MMA fighter. And the way he teed up Chandler at the end impressed me in general. The UFC is always doing stuff like that. You're hyped up after a big win, and they tell you, "Hey, you want to have a great fight in five to eight weeks?" - Thomson stated on the YouTube channel Weighin' In.

Recall, Chandler previously rebuked Tsarukyan for refusing to fight UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in early June. In response, Arman said that he fights for the championship belt, not for money, like Michael.

Alexandr Ormanji
April 25, 2024, 9:22 a.m.

UFC fighter Rinat Fakhretdinov shared his opinion on the upcoming fight between Hamzat Chimaev and the promotion's former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. Rinat advised Hamzat to knockout his opponent in the first two rounds.

"Hamzat will be more dangerous in the first two rounds. If Chimaev doesn't finish the fight in the first two rounds, then it will be difficult with Whittaker afterwards. Although Robert has been missing a lot lately, often falling. We'll be rooting for our own, but Whittaker will give the fight. Hamzat needs to wear down his opponent in the first two rounds".

Recall that the fight between Hamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker will headline the UFC tournament in Saudi Arabia, which will be held on June 22.

April 25, 2024, 8:20 a.m.

Jose Aldo, former UFC featherweight champion, has spoken out about his boxing plans.

"I'm considering a big boxing fight, probably sometime later this year. But we'll discuss it with the UFC when the fight with Jonathan Martinez is over. A fight with Floyd Mayweather was pretty much a done deal. Ali Abdel-Aziz was the one who negotiated it, and I don't know what happened, but in the end we couldn't make the fight in Saudi Arabia. There's a big event coming up later this year on Netflix, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, and hopefully I can be a part of it. But we'll see. There are a lot of options," MMA Junkie quoted Aldo as saying.

Jose Aldo, former UFC featherweight champion, spoke about why he was ending his UFC fighting career for a while.

"I think I needed a break for my mind and body. Just because of the fact that I was demanding a lot from myself and because training had taken a lot out of me for the last 20 years. I found a discipline I could focus on, which was boxing, and I did it for a while to recover from all that pressure. I wanted to be a champion and every fight I had was very tough and demanded a lot from me. Now I feel like I've dealt with it and I can come back," MMAJunkie quoted Aldo as saying.

Edwards' coach names weaknesses of Makhachev and Rakhmonov
Dmitriy Kel
April 25, 2024, 4:44 a.m.

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards' trainer Dave Lavelle has spoken out about his charge's potential opponents - undefeated prospect Shavkat Rakhmonov and the promotion's lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev.

"In some ways, Makhachev's deficiencies have been exposed in his last few fights in terms of stamina. Islam wants to move up in weight, but it's unclear if he can handle it. Shavkat is a dangerous guy, but he has also been vulnerable in recent fights, although Rakhmonov thinks he can run over any opponent," the specialist said in an interview with talkSPORT.

Edwards' next fight is expected to be against Belal Muhammad in July at a tournament in Manchester.

Gaethje revealed when he will resume sparring
Alexandr Ormanji
April 24, 2024, 11:24 a.m.

Justin Gaethje, former BMF belt holder, has revealed when he will resume sparring.

"Figuratively speaking, I could be ready as soon as tomorrow, but physically I want to take care of myself. I do think the recurring concussions, when I fall asleep like that after a punch..... It would be foolish of me to go back to sparring before six months. I could do cardio, I could stay in shape, it's something I want to try and do. Especially the older I get, the harder it is for me to get back to the best shape of my life, so I want to stay active. Obviously physical contact will be limited for a while simply because I want to preserve myself. I think it will be at least six months before I get back to exchanging punches. But that doesn't mean I won't train all the time," - quotes Gatji Yahoo Sports.

Recall, Gaethje lost by knockout to Max Holloway at UFC 300.
