Cormier invites UFC to take belt from Jones and give it to Aspinall

Daniel Cormier, a former two-division UFC champion, believes the promotion should take the heavyweight championship belt away from Jon Jones, who was out for a long time, and after his return intends to fight Miocic, and not the interim champion Aspinall.

“Tom Aspinall is the man who will lead the heavyweight division for many years to come. So yes, I think he should be the reigning champion. Jones is the current champion, having earned that title in the Octagon by defeating Cyril Hahn. But if he’s only going to fight Stipe, and then at least seven months from now, you have to call Tom Aspinall the champion,” Cormier said.
