Javier Mendez, head coach of the AKA gym and mentor of the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhacheva, told when his ward will return to the Octagon.
“As far as I know Islam, he won’t rush just to get a fight. He definitely needs to do two months of training camp. As far as I know, he hasn’t started the camp yet. Of course, he trains as usual, but for him the camp lasts two months. So, since the upcoming tournaments are already booked, I doubt that the fight will happen before March,” the functionary said.
Let us remind you that Makhachev spent his last fight in October, knocking out Alex Volkanovski in the first round.
