Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) won by unanimous decision Edwina De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) in the main event of the Top Rank evening in Las Vegas. The American won the vacant WBC world lightweight title.

The duel was not a spectacular spectacle. Both boxers threw very few punches, and the picture of the fight did not change throughout most of the confrontation. Stevenson was a little more active and accurate, but the 26-year-old American was clearly not in his best shape.

After twelve rounds the judges scored it 115-113 and twice 116-112. Thus, Stevenson won the championship title in his third weight category.
