Teofimo Lopez Sr., father and coach Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs), wants his son to avenge his only defeat in his career so far. Lopez won three of the four lightweight belts with a win over Vasiliy Lomachenko. However, in his next performance he lost George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs).

Lopez subsequently admitted that cutting down to 61.2 kilograms was a stupid decision, jumped to super lightweight and, in his third appearance in the 63.5 kilogram category, defeated Josh Taylor on points, winning the WBO championship belt.

“I would like my son to fight Kambosos now, now we will defeat this son of a bitch. We heard from Bob Arum that he can't leave Australia right now, so we might as well fly over to fight him. This guy won't even touch my son in a rematch. “We’re going to box this son of a bitch and then knock him out,” Lopez Sr. promised.

Let's remember that at the end of November 2021, Kambosos, better known as Manny Pacquiao's sparring partner, sent Lopez to the floor at the beginning of the fight and won a split decision of 115-112, 113-114 and 115-111.
