Velasquez: “I always wanted to test myself against Emelianenko”

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez said that during his career he looked up to Fedor Emelianenko.

“The fighter I’ve always looked up to and who I wanted to test myself against is probably Emelianenko. Obviously, I wanted my skills to be as good as his, or to develop into something similar. This could be a fight in which I would have to work carefully in the stand,” Emelianenko told the Weighing In podcast.

Let us remember that Velasquez hung up his gloves in 2019.
