The head of the promotion company Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, said that it is highly likely that the absolute world champion in the second middleweight will be a Mexican Saul Alvarez in his next fight he will face an unbeaten American David Benavidez.
“Apparently Alvarez’s team was planning to face Jermall Charlo, but his twin brother killed that fight. I think they expected a competitive fight with Jermell, and then his brother would interfere. It would be an interesting line, but who needs that now?
So that leaves only one high-profile fight: Benavidez. There is also Crawford, but I doubt this option. I just don’t believe Canelo will fight below 168, and I also don’t think Crawford will move up to that division. Saul’s team wants big fights with big paydays, so we’ll see what happens,” Boxing Social quotes Hearn as saying.
Let us remember that last weekend Alvarez successfully defended his titles, defeating Jermell Charlo by a crushing decision.
