Former world light heavyweight champion Joe Smith commented on his decision to rise to the first heavy division.
“I wanted to start putting on muscle mass and go higher. I really wanted this. So I tried to get big fights in the cruiserweight division as quickly as possible. I have been fighting in the light heavyweight division since I was 16 years old. It's time to move on.
In the fight with Ramirez, I will weigh 193 pounds. I would like to weigh all 200, but I don’t want to gain too much and slow down. I'll do the weight and gain a little after the weigh-in, but nothing crazy will happen.
Not having to worry about your weight at camp is a big relief. This is cool. Now I can eat as many carbs as I want. Of course, I don’t eat sugar or fast food. But overall I can eat whatever I want and still feel great,” Smith said in an interview with Boxing Scene.
Let us remind you that the fight between Smith and Ramirez will take place on October 7 in Las Vegas, USA.
