Chandler responds to criticism over McGregor fight

Former UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler responded to fighters and fans who tirelessly criticize him for his decision to stand idle and wait for a box office fight with the promotion’s main star Conor McGregor.

Let us remember that Chandler has not entered the Octagon since November last year, when he lost by submission to Dustin Poirier. His fight with McGregor is not expected to take place until early next year.

“People call me crazy. They say: “Why are you waiting? You’re wasting your years.” People always said about me that I was either too lazy or too busy. I can say that at 37 I feel much better than I did ten years ago. I take excellent care of my body and mind. I feel amazing, even with the wear and tear on my body.

I can confidently say that I needed a break. I have to give myself a break. So this is the right decision. I do some things outside of my MMA career. Over time, people will see the results of my work,” Chandler said on The MMA Hour.
