Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) is 33 years old and theoretically at the peak of his career. However, athletes who begin their professional careers at the age of fifteen do not always remain healthy throughout their entire “service life.”

In just eight days, Canelo will put all four super middleweight belts on the line against Jermella Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs), who previously competed two weight limits lower. On the eve of this confrontation, an unexpected statement was made by light heavyweight Ahmed Elbialy (23-1, 18 KOs), who in the past often helped the Mexican star as a sparring partner.

“Canelo just got lazy. He seems bored and tired of boxing, both mentally and physically. Remember that he has been boxing professionally since he was fifteen years old, has fought many ring wars and has undergone many surgeries. His body is much older than the age stated on his birth certificate. Imagine, one day, in the third or fourth round of our sparring, he suddenly said: “I’m tired,” and the sparring was simply stopped. He looks tired from boxing,” Elbiali said.

“It’s a joke,” Eddie Reynoso, Alvarez’s longtime trainer and manager, commented on Elbiali’s words.
