Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes the undefeated Swede Khamzat Chimaev would have received a title chance in the welterweight division if he had not failed the weigh-in before his bout with Nate Diaz last year.
Let us remember that in the end, instead of Diaz, Chimaev fought with Kevin Holland, whom he strangled in the first round.
“Hamzat specifically screwed up when he didn’t make weight before the Diaz fight, because if he had done that and performed well against him, he would have gotten the next title shot. He’s a star, he should have been given this opportunity,” Rogan said on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Let us remind you that Chimaev’s next performance will be in the middleweight division against Paulo Kosa. The meeting will take place on October 21 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
