Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) will eventually become a contender Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) in a fight for the vacant WBC world lightweight title. The fight will take place on November 16 in Las Vegas. This was reported by ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger.
Previously, the World Boxing Council champion in this division was Devin Haney, who in his next fight will fight WBC world super lightweight champion Regis Prograis. It is unclear whether Haney will return to the lightweight division, where he is currently granted "honorary champion" status.
Stevenson is a former world champion in two weight classes. De Los Santos fought his last four fights in the United States, and earned his only defeat in a fight against William Foster.
