Former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier admitted that it is difficult for him to come to terms with the defeat from Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 as he still considers himself a higher quality fighter.

Poirier led the score on the judges' cards after the first round, but already in the second he missed a kick to the head and was knocked out. At the stake of the meeting was the symbolic title of BMF.

“Khabib was better than me. And I was better than the one to whom I lost on Saturday. Therefore, defeat from Gaethje is more difficult to accept. I spent nine weeks in the camp, 11 weeks on a strict diet, sacrificed a lot and was extremely focused. I felt better than ever, ”Poirier said on The MMA Hour.
