“Tyson asked the WBC for special permission to hold this fight. As we all know, Fury has gone all out to get a fight with Oleksandr Usyk since last December. He also tried to sign contracts for fights with Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr.,” said the president of the World Boxing Council.

“He failed to secure a fight with a top opponent. He also does not have a designated mandatory challenger. That's why we allowed him to fight Ngannou," Suleiman added.

The fight between the current WBC champion and the former UFC champion will take place on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. Suleiman also said that the fight would be for ten rounds.
