Keith Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) and Yordenis Ugas (27-5, 12 KOs) will fight for the interim WBC welterweight title in August. Negotiations on the duel have not yet been completed, but the parties are close to concluding a contract.
Thurman hasn't boxed since last February when he beat Mario Barrios on points. With this performance, the American returned to the ring after more than a two-year break. Ugas lost in his last professional appearance to Errol Spence Jr.
In the spring, Thurman was supposed to have a fight with Spence, who is the full champion of the World Boxing Council in the weight category up to 66 kg. As a result, at the end of July, Spence will face Terence Crawford in a unification match.
