Absolute middleweight champion Claressa Shields (14-0, 2 KOs) scored a dominant victory over Marisela Cornejo (16-6, 6 KOs), albeit without a desired knockout in front of a massive crowd on Saturday at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

Shields went ahead on Cornejo from the start, throwing choice shots and winning every minute of every round. However, Cornejo has never been on the verge of an early defeat. Judging score: 100-89 and twice 100-90.

“I feel great,” Shields said after the fight. - I delivered blows to the target. I won every round, and I knew that I could do it. I went for a knockout many times, but Marisela is very persistent. She did a great job. Height doesn't matter, strength doesn't matter either. It's all about technique and the will to win, and I always have more of this than other girls."
