Mike Tyson participated in many legendary wars in the ring, but when asked about the most persistent opponent in his career, he made a rather unexpected choice and named Pinklon Thomas (43-7-1, 34 KOs), who was the WBC World Heavyweight Champion from 1984 to 1986.
Pinklon's fight against "Iron" Mike took place on May 30, 1987, in the midst of the devastating reign of the young Brooklyn puncher. Pinklon lost to Tyson in the sixth round.
“The toughest opponent in my career was Pinklon Thomas. Yes, I knocked him out, but it was an incredible series of seventeen punches. Seventeen, all very powerful and all on purpose. So Thomas was the strongest,” Tyson said.
