Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor confirmed that his duel with Michael Chandler will be held within the welterweight division. In case of victory, the star Irishman expects to enter the title fight with the winner of the Leon Edwards-Kamaru Usman pair, who will meet on March 18 in the main event of the UFC 286 tournament in London.
“Only welterweight. I will fight at welterweight - this is not discussed. Maybe I will even attend the UFC 286 tournament. My teammate Gunnar Nelson is fighting on the card. I would love to watch his fight and title fight live," McGregor said on The MMA Hour.
McGregor hasn't been in a cage since July 2021, when he broke his leg in the first round against Dustin Poirier. In that meeting, he was awarded a defeat by technical knockout.
