Oscar De La Hoya believes that the number of paid broadcasts of the fight sold Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) vs. Gervonts Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) can surpass the record of his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.. The 2007 duel generated 2.4 million PPV in the US.

“I really feel that from a business standpoint, this is like my fight with Floyd. I believe that the PPV record will be broken. This duel is so big,” said the head of Golden Boy Promotions.

“Maybe Davis is more popular now than Mayweather was when he fought me. Ryan has an incredible amount of social media followers. Today we live in a different world than then. Their one-on-one fight is sure to cause a storm of emotions, ”added De La Hoya.

The Davis-Garcia fight will take place under the contract limit of 136 pounds. The fight will take place on April 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
