On April 22, at a boxing evening organized by KnockOut Promotions in Rzeszow, there will be a fight for the WBC belt in the bridge weight between Alen Babich (11-0, 10 KOs) and local Lukash Ruzhansky (14-0, 13 KOs). This was announced by the tournament promoter Andrzej Wasilewski on his Twitter.
Earlier, the Polish promotional organization won the tender to organize this fight with the amount of 425,000 dollars. 10% of the amount ($42,500) is reserved as a bonus for the winner of the fight. The rest of the money (382.5 thousand dollars) will be divided in half between both participants in this fight.
Previously, the WBC world title in the bridge weight belonged to Oscar Rivas, whose career was suspended due to health problems. For Babich and Ruzhansky, this will be the first chance to win the world title.
Babich last boxed in May, beating another Polish boxer, Adam Balski, on points. Ruzhansky in his last professional performance knocked out Artur Shpilka. The winner of the Babich-Ruzhansky fight will have to make a mandatory title defense against the best of the Kevin Lehren-Riad Merhi pair. This fight will take place on April 29 in South Africa.
