Mauricio Lara (26-2-1, 19 KOs) won by technical knockout in the seventh round over Lee Wood (26-3, 16 KOs) and took the WBA featherweight title from him in the main event of the evening in Nottingham, England. Local hero Wood suffered a cut over his left eye already in the first round after a headbutt, but round after round he won the fight.
In the seventh round, Lara managed to send Wood to the floor with a left hook. Wood got up before the end of the count, but his coach Ben Davidson threw in the towel at 2:54.
