IBF set Ruiz-Hrgovic bid for Feb. 28

The tender date has been set for February 28, at which the organizer of the fight for the IBF interim heavyweight belt between Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) and Filip Hrgovic (15-0, 12 KOs).

The International Boxing Federation decided to make an exception, because according to its rules, in the case of fights for interim titles, bidding is not held, and in order for the fight to take place, the parties must come to an agreement.

Hrgovic, 30, became an official IBF title contender in August by defeating Zhang Zhilei on points. This was the only performance of a boxer from Croatia last year.

In his last appearance in the ring, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz. The former world heavyweight champion is also in the status of an official contender for the WBC title, which he must challenge with Deontay Wilder.
