WBA gives Golovkin and Lara 15 days to agree fight

Gennady Golovkin

WBA mandated teams Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) and Erislandi Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) start negotiations for a middleweight title fight.

According to the order of the World Boxing Association, the parties of boxers must determine by February 23 who will organize the fight for the belt. If the parties do not come to an agreement, a competition for promotional applications will be held.

Golovkin's fight with Lara will be a "unifying" fight within the WBA, since at the moment the boxer from Kazakhstan is the holder of the super champion title, and the Cuban is the usual "regular" champion. In the event of a possible tender, the winning bid will be split 75/25 in favor of Golovkin.
