Arslanbek Mahmudov (15-0, 14 KOs) turned out to be harder Michael Wallisch (23-5, 16 KOs) at the official weigh-in ceremony before their fight in Shawinigan. Makhmudov weighed in at 120.3 kg, and Wallisch at 106.3 kg.
For Makhmudov, who is promoted by Top Rank, this will be the third performance this year. Wallish returned to the ring in May after losing to Murat Gasiev last year.
At the recently concluded WBC convention, Makhmudov, No. 4 in the heavyweight rankings, was ordered to defend the WBC silver belt with Zhan Kosobutsky, who should be the next opponent of the Russian "Lion" after the December fight. If he refuses, Makhmudov risks losing the trophy.
