Ryder with WBO title after Parker's injury

John Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) won Zach Parker (22-1, 16 KOs) by TKO in the fifth round and won the interim WBO super middleweight title. The duel became the main event of the evening in London.

The first minutes of the competition were very even, but from the third round, Ryder began to gain an advantage. The 34-year-old athlete pushed his opponent to the ropes and regularly hit with his left. Parker's activity was falling, and between the fourth and fifth rounds, the 28-year-old fighter decided to refuse to continue, citing an injury to his right hand.

Previously, Ryder had a temporary WBA belt in the weight category up to 76 kg. It is possible that now in May the Briton will fight with Saul Alvarez, who is the full champion of the World Boxing Organization in this weight category.
