Former Olympian arrested on suspicion of trying to set up a shootout

39 year old Azea Augustama (20-3, 12 KOs) was a promising amateur. In 2008, he even performed at the Beijing Olympics as part of the Haiti national team. Now he was again able to loudly declare himself, but, unfortunately, not in a sporting way.

The Haitian hung up his gloves after losing a split decision to Gusmiru Perdomo five and a half years ago. Now he's been arrested for planning a shootout at a Florida gym in Miami. The failed terrorist was stopped by the police while buying an AK-47. Earlier, in front of witnesses, he threatened mass execution, and, apparently, he wanted to keep his word.

A few days earlier in this hall, one of the boxing trainers asked Augustama, who had already finished his training, to step aside and make room for him. A conflict broke out and at some point everything became so serious that the owner of the gym deprived Augusta of his membership in the gym and forbade him to appear in it.

“He will shoot,” one of the members of the hall in Miami told the police officers and provided a photo of a potential victim. In the photo, Augustama was captured with the owner of the hall and one of his employees. The police took the former boxer under surveillance and ten days ago, an Olympian from Beijing was arrested in a pawnshop while buying weapons.
