The semi-finals of the World Boxing Council tournament have passed, which should determine the mandatory contender for the world heavyweight title. The final eliminator is to be officially announced on November 8th.

In the first semi-final Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) confidently beat Luis Ortiz on points. In the second Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) knocked out Robert Helenius in the first round. The Destroyer and the Bronze Bomber will officially receive an order in less than two weeks to start negotiations and the date of a possible tender, which will not happen, because both boxers are represented by Al Haymon.

“Ruiz and Wilder won their elimination bouts. On November 8, we will discuss ratings and appoint mandatory challengers and eliminators,” said Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC President.
