Bellator president proposes additional divisions in MMA

Scott Cocker, president of Bellator, thinks weight classes should be added to MMA.

“If the whole industry would come together and say, 'Look, we'd better have more weight classes or change the ones we have.' I think everyone should do it. Not only us, but UFC and ONE FC. Rizin might have to do it. I believe that the current weight classes are not fair to fighters. The guy competes in one division, and then rises, but faces a big difference in weight. I think there should be symmetry. If this question were raised, then we would support such an initiative. I think the gap between weighty categories is too big. A gap of 10 pounds is a lot. In boxing, there are only three weight categories with such a gap. So there is something to think about."

Recall that the next Bellator tournament will be held on October 29 and will be number 287.
