WBA pushes for Golovkin-Lara fight

The World Boxing Association (WBA) obliged the parties to start negotiations on a fight for the champion title in the middleweight category between Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) and Erislandy Laroy (29-3-3, 17 KOs).

According to the decision of the World Boxing Association, teams must determine by October 23 who will organize the fight for the belt. If the parties do not come to an agreement, a competition for promotional applications will be held.

The fight between Golovkin and Lara should be a “unification” fight within the WBA, because the boxer from Kazakhstan is currently the holder of the super champion title, and the Cuban is the “regular” champion.
