UFC President Dana White Reveals Why the Undefeated Swedish Welterweight of Chechen Origin Khamzat Chimaev failed the weigh-in ahead of the UFC 279 tournament.
Recall that Chimaev exceeded the maximum limit of his division by almost 3 kg.
“If you saw Khamzat yesterday, he was already very thin and had to meet the limit. In general, he started a weight loss and he had convulsions. He began to experience all the same symptoms that occur during a poor weight cut.
We called a doctor for him to determine whether he can continue weight loss or not. The doctor advised him to stop,” SportsCenter quoted the head of promotion as saying.
It is worth adding that originally Chimaev's opponent at the upcoming event was supposed to be Nate Diaz, but there was a reshuffle in the main card of the tournament. Now Borz will have to share the octagon with Kevin Holland.
