Mauricio Suleiman officially confirmed the information that the fight Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) vs. Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) will have WBC heavyweight eliminator status. The winner of this meeting will fight Andy Ruiz Jr.

The fight will be the main event of the evening, which will take place on October 15 in New York and will be shown in the United States on a pay-per-view.

For the 36-year-old Wilder, this will be a return to the ring after two losses to Tyson Fury and the loss of the WBC championship belt. The last time the American boxed was in October.

In the last two fights, Helenius won against Adam Kownacki. In the past, the Finn, who recently turned down a WBA belt eliminator with Hughie Fury, has often been Wilder's sparring partner.
