Paying tribute to his cousin, he urged the British government to do more to combat knife crime, including "stiffer sentences." A male suspect has been charged with Burton's murder and is still being tried at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

In an interview with TalkSport, Furey once again called for stiffer penalties for those caught with a knife and suggested extreme measures to combat knife crime. "The government should do the following with this knife crime: anyone caught with a knife or stabbing someone should be castrated. It cost the government a lot of money to put them in prison. It costs £60,000 to £70,000 a year to keep them. These little bastards should be castrated."

"We should be one of the safest countries in the world, but right now we can't afford to walk down the street with an expensive watch or anything else because we might get clipped," Fury added.
