A few weeks ago, Lomachenko told his Top Rank promoters that he would be ready to return to the ring in the fall. The last time the Ukrainian boxed was in December, unanimously defeating Richard Commey on points.
In the spring, Lomachenko refused a duel with George Kambosos, as he decided that for the time being he would remain in his homeland and would participate in the fight against Russian occupation as part of the territorial defense.
The unbeaten 26-year-old Ortiz fought his last fight in May, when he won on points against former world champion Jamel Herring.
