ABC takes on the WBA again

The WBA has once again been targeted by the Association of American Boxing Commissions (ABC), this time over allegations of indirectly receiving financial benefits in exchange for the position of boxers in its ratings.

According, in part, to statements by promoters Manuel Charra, but not only because the issue has been raised before, the practice was to be mediated by Sports Consulting Services, a company linked to the son of WBA boss Gilberto Mendoza Jr.

“If these allegations against the WBA are confirmed, ABC will take action and the WBA will no longer have the right to do business in the United States. If the accusation is confirmed, ABC will take drastic action and issue a press release stating that no one from the WBA will be able to be in the United States. ABC was created by the US government to protect integrity and safety,” said ABC CEO Mike Mazzulli.

It is worth recalling that almost exactly a year ago, ABC also threatened the WBA with serious consequences, recommending a reduction in the number of championship belts for which the federation takes its percentage of the total fight budgets. Recently, the authorities of the World Boxing Association decided to move their headquarters from Panama to Houston in the United States.
