Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson believes that the main mistake Saul Alvarez in a duel with Dmitry Bivol was that he did little jab work.
“I think if Canelo had used his jab more effectively, hit him harder, then Bivol wouldn’t have been able to get close. That guy came up because he wasn't bothered by Canelo's jab. Therefore, he became more aggressive and bold.
Because Canelo didn't use the jab, he had no defense. If you do not throw a jab, then the opponent will approach him, as Bivol did. Use your jab next time, the fight will be different.
When Bivol threw the jab, Canelo had to move, slip, read the combo. If he left the jab, then Bivol would not be able to throw combinations.
I discussed the fight with my wife, told her that Canelo does not use the jab. In the next round, I saw him throw the jab. So, in the corner they told him the same thing. I am sure that if he had used the jab, then the fight would have been different, ”Metro quotes Tyson.
On May 8, Alvarez lost to Bivol by unanimous decision.
