Gervonta Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) will become a free agent after his next fight. The 27-year-old boxer has worked with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Leonard Ellerby, who represented him.
The American will return to the ring on May 28 in New York, where he will box with Rolando Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) for the regular WBA lightweight belt. This evening of boxing will be shown in the US on pay-per-view.
Relations between Davis and Mayweather are not the best, so the "Tank" is likely to change the promoter. Promotional organization Top Rank, which has signed contracts with several top players in the lightweight category, has already expressed a desire to cooperate with the boxer. The desire to sign Davis and organize his fight with Ryan Garcia was also expressed by Oscar de la Hoya.
