The famous American coach Teddy Atlas is sure that the former light heavyweight champion of the world Sergey Kovalev was not in his best physical and mental shape when he went into battle with Saul Alvarez.
“Yes, Canelo beat Kovalev, but Sergey was already a little different. Perhaps psychologically he was no longer the same as physically. Maybe this fight didn't mean as much to him as fights always should. Kovalev made a lot of money in this fight, he made great money in many of his fights. However, Canelo came out and beat him. He wins and goes on winning streaks going up and down in weight,” said Teddy Atlas on his The Fight with Teddy Atlas podcast.
Recall that in November 2019, Alvarez knocked out Kovalev in the 11th round.
