A boxer from Kazakhstan claims that Golden Boy owed him at least $3 million. The current IBF world middleweight champion accuses the company, in particular, of breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. The event was jointly organized by Golden Boy Promotions and Golovkin's GGG Promotions.

The 40-year-old boxer is set to return to the ring on April 9 in Japan, where he will face WBA world champion Ryota Murata in a unification fight. In case of victory, Golovkin will face a third fight with Canelo, which could take place on September 17. The financial terms of this confrontation have already been agreed.

The lawsuit filed by GGG will not affect the fight as Alvarez is no longer with Golden Boy Promotions. The Mexican is currently a free agent and mostly deals with Matchroom Boxing.
