Burns-Chimaev mat get elimination status

UFC President Dana White admitted that the winner of the fight between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev can get the right to a title fight in the welterweight division of the promotion.

“The fight of Burns and Chimaev has been agreed and approved. It got a date. It will be an incredible event, I am looking forward to it. Will their fight be an eliminator'? It makes sense,” White said at a press conference after UFC 272.

The fight of Burns and Chimaev will take place at the UFC 273 tournament, which will be held on April 9 in Florida.
