Former world champion in six weight divisions Oscar De La Hoya admitted that he finally abandoned the idea of returning to the ring. Until recently, the 48-year-old boxer called Floyd Mayweather Jr. for revenge, but the ex-champion of five divisions did not negotiate on this matter.

Earlier, the owner of the group Golden Boy Promotions announced that his next fight will take place in May. The American was supposed to fight Vitor Belfort in September, but his training was interrupted by a coronavirus infection. De La Hoya ended up in the hospital and has rarely visited the training room since.

The golden boy has finally given up on the idea of returning to the ring, and will no longer try to regain his athletic form. Oscar De La Hoya had his last professional fight in 2008 against Manny Pacquiao, in which he lost ahead of schedule after the eighth round.
