On April 6 in Australia IBF cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis (28-1, 20 KOs) will face Jai Opetaia (21-0, 17 KOs), who is the official contender for the belt of the International Boxing Federation.
Mairis Briedis won the IBF title in September 2020 by defeating Yunier Dorticos in the WBSS final. Last fall, he defended the trophy for the first time, beating Arthur Mann.
Opetaia will challenge for the championship title for the first time in his professional career. The last time the Australian boxed was in December, when he returned to the ring after more than a year's break.
