Ryder defeated Jacobs in WBA eliminator

Hometown hero John Ryder (31-5, 17 KOs) defeated two-time world middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (37-4, 30 KOs) by split decision in the WBA super middleweight eliminator in the main bout of the evening at Alexandra Palace in London.

Jacobs easily outboxed Ryder during the first six rounds, but in the second half of the fight, Ryder woke up and was able to force a fight on the opponent. Ryder looked better from the seventh to the ninth round. The last three rounds were held in an equal fight. The scorecards are twice 115-113 for Ryder and 115-113 for Jacobs.
