Promoter of one of the most interesting young welterweight boxers from the UK Conor Benna (19-0, 13 KOs), Eddie Hearn revealed that Benn would have his first fight of the year on April 16. His opponent is likely to be Chris Van Heerden (28-2-1, 12 KOs).
Adrien Broner, former world champion in four weight divisions, Maurice Hooker, former world champion in super lightweight, and another opponent, whose name Hearn did not name, also received an offer to fight 25-year-old Benn. Browner has not yet responded, and Hooker referred to the injury.
Last December, Benn knocked out another ex-world champion, Chris Algiery, in great style. Conor, the son of the legendary Nigel Benn, currently ranks fifth in the WBA welterweight, sixth in the IBF and seventh in the WBO.
Benn's likely opponent, Chris Van Heerden, a 34-year veteran from South Africa, faced Jaron Ennis in his last fight in December 2020. The fight was declared a no contest after Van Heerden received a cut in the first round after a headbutt and was unable to continue the fight.
