Former world welterweight champion Viktor Postol (31-3, 12 KOs) spoke about the next fight with the American Gary Antoine Russell (14-0, 14 KOs).
“I know that Gary Antoine Russell is the brother of the already stellar ex-WBC champion Gary Russell. He is young, ambitious, he is 25 years old and he won all his 14 fights by knockout. By the way, he boxed one-on-one like his brother: he is tough, he throws out fast punches.
I started training in Ukraine, where I spent two weeks of sparring. After that, I moved to the USA, where I will spend another three weeks of training, which will include physical training, tactical developments and, of course, sparring. All sparring partners will be left-handed to replicate Russell's moves as much as possible. I already managed to spar with one of them - this is Prospect Elvin Rodriguez.
The victory over Gary Antoine Russell will open new perspectives for me. I believe that good fights await me,” Postol said in a commentary to WBC Ukraine.
Recall, Postol will fight against Russell on February 26 at the PBC boxing evening.
