Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano announced for April 30 in New York

Today, perhaps the biggest fight in the history of women's boxing was officially announced: Katie Taylor (20-0, 6 KOs) vs. Amanda Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs). The duel will take place on April 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

According to The Ring magazine, Katie Taylor, an Olympic champion, a five-time world champion in Olympic boxing and a world champion among professionals in two weight categories, including the title of undisputed lightweight champion, leads in the ranking of the best athletes in the world, regardless of weight categories. Amanda Serrano ranks third in this ranking. The WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight titles held by the 35-year-old Irish will be at stake.

Taylor fought three times last year, winning unanimous points against Natasha Jonas in May, Jennifer Khan in September and Firuza Sharipova in December. The world champion in seven weight categories, 33-year-old Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano, also won three fights last year. First, in March, she defeated Daniela Bermudez ahead of schedule, in August she outplayed Yamilet Mercado on points, defending the world featherweight champion belts, and then in December she had a victorious duel with Miriam Gutierrez in the flyweight, preparing for the April confrontation.
