Chandler names UFC Fighter of the Year

UFC Top American Lightweight Michael Chandler named the champion of his division Charles Oliveiro the best fighter of the outgoing year in the promotion.

“Oliveira has been a member of this organization for a long time, and this year he finally won gold, and then defended it in a duel with a guy who has long been widely recognized as the main contender, if not the best lightweight in the world. It has been an incredible year for Charles. Perhaps I will call him the best fighter of 2021. Just look at his achievements this year,"  Chandler said.

It was in a duel with Chandler that Oliveira won the championship belt, winning by TKO in the second round. It happened on May 16 at UFC 262.
